August 5th, 2024; the Puffins ship was sailing again. The daycare was welcoming new friends to the Club. At the beginning of the journey here at Albatross Daycare, the children were exploring everything around them and very curious about all the toys, games and tools the daycare has.
During these months, Puffins have been exploring and knowing more the environment mainly divided in classroom and playground, meeting new people such as their teachers and new friends, and having contact with a new language. Children have started to get familiar with all the new things including the daily routine. We know that it is totally normal that the transitions from one thing to another have been challenging for them, but little by little they have overcome all of this thanks to the help of the teachers and with the commitment of the families. Furthermore, we would like to highlight here that there is a moment during the day that it has taken the nickname of “the most desired moment of the day” and this is the song time. Puffins love listening to songs -‘Wheels on the bus’, ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and ‘Sleepy bunnies’ are always on replay- and even have tried already to follow the dance movements. Since the beginning of the new academic year, the music has helped them a lot with their fine motor skills as well as to ease the transition from one activity of the routine to another. Furthermore, we have celebrated already some birthdays and Puffins have become very good singers of the ‘Happy Birthday’ song.
We know that the journey during this new academic year will be amazing, full of great moments, learnings and development of skills; however it won’t be always full of flowers and fairytales, because we know that some challenges may arise, but we don’t worry about this because we, the teachers, will be there with them to help them to pass any of these obstacles.
