Caring for Nature: The Owls’ Creative Adventures

We have successfully completed our International Theme, and what an amazing journey it has been for our preschool group, the Owls!

Over the past weeks, the Owls have been thoroughly enjoying their learning experiences, with a strong focus on how to take care of nature. Together, we explored important ways to protect our environment by learning about the 5 Rs: recycle, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and repair. The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they discussed how small actions can make a big difference for our planet. As part of our projects, the children also worked on motor robots, which allowed them to combine creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning in an exciting way.

With Easter approaching, festive preparations and decorations became a joyful part of our learning as well. The Owls had a wonderful time decorating Easter branches and creating Easter grass, bringing colour and seasonal cheer into our classroom.

To support our topic on caring for nature, we made several visits to the nearby library, where the children explored different materials and gathered ideas for future projects. These visits helped deepen their understanding of nature and inspired new ways to continue our environmental learning journey. Another exciting part of our learning has been understanding the concept of time. The children have been learning about time and clock reading, helping them develop an early understanding of daily routines, schedules, and how time works.

We have now started a wonderful new hands-on project: building bird and insect houses. This process has been truly amazing to watch. The Owls have been actively involved in every step — measuring, sanding, gluing, painting wooden parts, and carefully assembling different homes for nature’s animals.

So far, the children have been creating a variety of nature houses, including a bee hotel, butterfly house, bird feeder, and birdhouse. Through this project, they are not only learning practical skills but also developing a deeper appreciation for the living creatures around us and the importance of protecting their habitats.

We are incredibly proud of the Owls for their creativity, teamwork, and growing awareness of how to care for nature. We are looking forward to many more exciting learning experiences and nature-inspired projects in the coming weeks. The Owls continue to show wonderful enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork in everything they do, and we cannot wait to see what they will discover and create next together.
