Our Puffins have had a lovely start to their time together. Over the past weeks and months, the children have been getting to know each other and becoming familiar with the routines of our day. We have been practising everyday routines such as coming together for meals, tidying up, getting ready to go outside and transitioning between different activities. The children are becoming more confident and comfortable as they learn what to expect throughout the day.
It has been especially lovely to see how open and interested the children have been towards one another. As some children said goodbye and new friends joined the group, the Puffins welcomed these changes with curiosity and warmth. They have shown interest in each other, played alongside one another and gradually started to build new friendships. A big part of our time has been exploring through sensory play. The children have enjoyed splashing in water and puddles, experimenting with finger paint, exploring kinetic sand and discovering different textures in our sensory box. These activities have given them plenty of opportunities to touch, feel, scoop, pour and explore at their own pace.

We also have been focusing on body movement through outdoor play, songs and movement activities. The children have enjoyed moving their bodies, exploring the space around them and developing their confidence through active play.

As we moved into autumn, we began exploring the season around us. We collected leaves outdoors, talked about the different colours of the leaves and created our own autumn tree using finger paint. These experiences allowed the children to explore nature while developing their creativity and curiosity.
It has been wonderful to see our Puffins gradually settle into their new environment, build relationships and become more independent in their everyday experiences. We look forward to continuing to explore, play and learn together in the weeks and months ahead!
