We have had such a fun and busy few weeks with the finches. We started by enjoying the rainy Autumn weather. Playing with water, mud is one of their favorite things to do outside. There were lots of happy faces and muddy hands.
One of the big highlight of our last six weeks was our trip to the fire station in Leppävaara. The Finches had the chance to meet real firefighters and explore a fire truck up close .On our walk there, we also practiced road safety and learned more about fire safety.
As we said goodbye to summer and welcomed autumn, we jumped in colorful leaves on our playground and worked together to clean our yard. The finches really enjoyed helping and jumping on top of the big pile we made. In the classroom ,there’s been lots of creativity activities going around. We started our autumn art projects and also explored new activity games. We had a lovely parents coffee day, and the Finches baked butter cookies for the occasion. It was very nice to spend time with some parents and family members.
During our gym time, we have enjoyed various games outdoors and we practiced our balance skills to get ready for ice skating season. Meanwhile, we went on our first ice skating trip! The finches were so excited to get on the ice, and everyone did very well trying to balance and walking on ice.
We also had a cozy pajama day, where the Finches had a little catwalk show and colored their own designed pajamas. To mark Finnish book day, some children brought Finnish books from home and shared and listen to the lovely stories with their friends.
To end our busy six weeks, we celebrated Diwali, the festival of light. Finches created colorful crafts to decorate our classroom. The children learned about what Diwali means to the Indian culture, watched video and danced together.
Its been a joyful few weeks full of fun, laughter, learning and enjoy the beauty of Autumn.
