Adventures in Learning with the Owls

We have been truly enjoying our learning in preschool! Over the past few weeks, the Owls have been exploring, discovering, and celebrating many exciting moments together. We proudly finished our Forest topic with a fantastic trip to Villa Elfvik. The children were full of curiosity and wonder as they explored the trails, spotted different plants and animals, and experienced the forest environment first-hand. It was a perfect way to conclude our forest studies — connecting our classroom learning to the real world and deepening our appreciation for nature.

After our forest adventure, we began our brand-new topic — Habitats! The children have shown great enthusiasm as we discuss and compare the various places animals live around the world. So far, we have explored the Jungle, Forest, and Savanna. The Owls have loved learning about the animals that live in each environment, what they eat, how they move, and how they adapt to their surroundings. This topic has opened up so many opportunities for inquiry, creativity, and discovery — and we are looking forward to exploring even more habitats in the coming weeks!

Alongside our topic work, we have been engaging with numbers and mathematical games. The children have practiced counting, sorting, measuring, and pattern recognition through fun and interactive activities. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and problem-solving skills grow as they work both independently and in small groups. A big highlight this month has been the start of our skating sessions! The Owls have been incredibly brave and enthusiastic on the ice. Each week, they are developing their balance, coordination, and perseverance while also learning the importance of teamwork and encouragement. It has been a joy to see their progress and cheerful smiles on the rink!

This month has also been filled with special celebrations. We celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with beautiful decorations, lights, and joyful activities. The children learned about the meaning of Diwali and enjoyed bringing light, warmth, and happiness into our classroom. Shortly after, we had our Halloween party, which was one of the most exciting events of the month! The Owls came dressed in fantastic costumes and took part in fun games, crafts, and a spooky celebration full of laughter. We also are about to host our Father’s Day Coffee. It would be wonderful to welcome the fathers into our classroom and see the children so proud to share their space and activities. Together, they definitely enjoy games, Screen Q&A sessions, and a lovely time of connection and fun. The smiles and laughter would make it a truly memorable event for everyone.

It has been a joyful and busy time for the Owls, filled with learning, creativity, and celebration. We are so proud of how the children are growing and developing — both in their learning and in their friendships. We look forward to continuing our Habitats topic, discovering new animals and environments, and enjoying the many exciting experiences still to come.
