A joyful start to spring with the Finches

We have come back from our Easter break and would like to share what our past six weeks have been like for the finches.

The Finches have been happily celebrating spring with lots of fun, learning, and creativity! We started by making our own “continent passports” and colouring animals from all seven continents. The Finches have also been exploring animals and their habitats and learning where in the world they belong. Through imaginative play and creative activities, they brought their learning to life.

As the weeks continued, we began our exciting International Week celebration! The Finches coloured their own country flags and had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about their friends’ countries and animals that live there. We also enjoyed special presentations from parents from India and Uzbekistan, and a teacher from Ireland, where we learned about different traditions, including St. Patrick’s Day.

We talked about Eid festival and made beautiful decorations to celebrate together. We also started planting Easter grass and we were excited to watch it grow.

The Finches have been busy with creative projects including making a dragon, a castle and some other decoration for the classroom.

At the gym, we continued practicing our hand-eye coordination through games such us passing, throwing and catching balls. Finches practiced teamwork and learned how to play together as a group.

We visited the library, where we picked out new books for our classroom and returned the ones we borrowed last month. We also talked about the importance of taking care of books. The Finches showed responsibility by apologizing to the librarian for two books that needed repairing.

On April fool’s day (Aprillipäivä), the teachers played a funny prank on the Finches! We told them that all the spoons “disappeared” and the Finches had to eat yogurt with forks!  Everybody thought it was funny and had a good laugh about it!

We prepared for Easter by making beautiful Easter branches and taking good care of our growing grass. Although we had some rainy Spring days, we still enjoyed playing outside and had lots of fun together.

The last six weeks culminated with a lovely Easter party. The Finches made bunny ears, we played Easter egg hunt outside and other fun games inside. By the end of the day, we even tasted mämmi, a traditional Finnish seasonal treat.

It has been a joyful and busy six weeks full of learning and laughter. We are so proud of all the Finches and how far they have all come and we are looking forward to more Spring adventures ahead.
