The weather outside is cold and snowy which means that Christmas is around the corner. The Puffins’ teachers have prepared a Christmas calendar for the children to count down days until Christmas holidays. The days in December have been full of fun and exciting activities and slowly our classroom is turning into a Christmas wonderland.
In this Christmas calendar, one activity has been planned for each day of the month. On the very first day of December Puffins got their own Christmas tree and decorated it. They were very excited to decorate the tree and would’ve wanted to play football with all the beautiful ornaments. Ever since they have been loving the tree and every day stop to admire it. On the second day the Puffins got to put tiny Christmas hats on all of the animal pictures we have on the classroom walls. They found it really funny.
So far we have been doing some crafts to decorate the classroom walls. On independence day we painted a big Finnish flag together. We also painted a huge Christmas tree on the window and made ornaments by gluing coloured papers on plates. The Puffins have also been listening to a lot of music and learning new Christmas songs. We have had dance parties and also did a little bit of yoga. They are really enjoying moving around, jumping and clapping to music.
We still have two more weeks to go before the holidays and have more fun activities on the calendar. We are very excited to have our Christmas party in a few days to celebrate with family members. Hopefully we will finish decorating the classroom by then.
